Worried About Using AdSense? In Google's Defense

Many people keep on shying away from using AdSense. They've either heard by others that Google keeps locking accounts for the tiniest little infraction - or - they've had a quick peek into AdSense info and it all seems too complicated, so people just don't bother getting involved.

For those who get involved - YES - it is very important that you don't get your AdSense account locked, blocked, banned or cancelled.

Here's How To Avoid Getting Your Adsense Account Terminated

Right now, Google is the undisputed leader in search engines. Therefore, Google has to place high priority on 'quality' and 'relevancy' regarding what goes into search engines. Now that the company is public property, Google needs to keep shareholders and users of its search engines happy and satisfired. This is why 'quality' and 'relevance' are so important to Google - and why these should be high priority for you, too.

Doing the wrong things with or within Adsense and other forms of advertisements, anything related to Google - whether intentionally or unintentionally - will eventually result in severe penalties. This may include getting you or your site or blog banned from the search engines or worse - your google account terminated. In short, the more that Google can weed out garbage content, deliberately duplicated content, spammish activities, and blatant steps over the line, the better it can run and offer its services to the public, to users, and to advertisers.

Here are things to DEFINITELY AVOID if you're going to be involved with Google in business:

* Hidden text.

Filling your advertisement page with texts so small they can't be read
Making text the same color as the background
Using css for the sole purpose of loading pages with rich keywords, content, copy.

(the above will earn you a penalty 'award' that is given to those who are hiding links - most likely when you are 'caught,' google will just ELIMINATE your account)

* Page cloaking.

This is actually a pretty common practice of using browser or bot sniffers to serve the bots of a different page other than the page your visitors will see.
Loading a page with a bot that a human user will never see is a plain and definite no-no.
This is tricking them to click on something to direct viewers to where you want them to go to but to a page that they probably do not want to go to.

* Multiple submissions.

This is the practice of submitting multiple copies of your domain and pages and you should stay away from doing this!
For example, if you try to submit a URL of an Adsense blog/page as two separate URL’s - this is just inviting trouble and possible termination of your accounts.
This is another good reason to avoid auto submitters and certain auto-submit software. Better check first to see if your domain is submitted already to certain search engines before you try to (inadvertently) submit it again. If you notice your URL already there - MOVE ON...it's not worth having your accounts penalized!

* Link farms.

Be wary of who and what are you linking your Adsense blogs and pages to. Search engines know that you cannot always control your links coming in to your sites or blogs. People will tell other people to visit your pages if they want to - but you can certainly do your best to control what YOU link to. Your pages/blogs are your pages - be careful!
Link farming has always been frowned upon greatly in the eyes of any reputable search engines, and Google is no exception.
Having a link higher than 100 on a single page will classify you as a link farm so try and not to make links higher than that.

* Page rank for sale.

If you have been online for awhile, you'll notice that some sites will sell their PR links or trade them with other sites. If you are doing this, expect a ban anytime in the future. It is okay to sell ads or gain the link. But doing it on direct display and advertisement of your page rank is a way to get on the wrong end and bad side of a search engine.

* Doorways.

Doorways are very similar to cloaking pages.
Another common practice, using doorway pages means making a page and loading it up with choice keyword ads that are aimed at redirecting visitors to another “user-friendly” page. This is a big issue among search engines. Many SEO firms offer this kind of service, but now that you know what doorways actually are, try to avoid them at all costs. Certainly, don't go out to buy something like this!

* Multiple domains of exactly the same content.

In case you're not aware already - search engines look at domains IP’s, registry dates and many other details. If you have multiple domains with the exact same content, you can't hide this from the search engines. Changing a title on a page or a few subheadings may, in part, fool your viewers just a little bit, but it sure won't fool any decent search engine for more than a moment.
The same goes for content multiplied many times on separate pages, sub domains and forwarding multiple domains to the same content.

Many of the above techniques apply to most search engines, not just Google. Grab the mindset really quickly that, if you're going to have Google accounts or any advertising and promotion accounts, you'll learn to use them properly and NOT CUT CORNERS.

Build up your Adsense pages for human users FIRST and not for bots, and you'll be gaining better, safer results from your efforts.

Cheaters always get caught at some point

Not to mention avoiding the wrath of the search engines and getting your Adsense and site account terminated altogether.

Need To Get In Touch With Me?

If you need to get in touch with me, please do so through the Yuwie Social Site.

My website is just about ready. Once it is up and running smoothly, you'll be able to contact me there and I'll 'stay put' permanently so that I'm easy to get in touch with. (www.teeray.com)

Until then, I realize that referrals are coming from people viewing my Kamikaze blog, but some of my program member areas do not allow easy contact from within. If people need help or need to ask me a question about the programs, some of the members areas aren't allowing people to contact me. I'm sorry that I have overlooked this little detail.

If you've been in need of some assistance, just head over to Yuwie and drop me a message. I'll get back to you as soon as possible! Just log in, look for 'teeray' then send me a message.

Do You Think We Are The Web 2.0 Machine?

Web 2.0

What do you think or know about the concept of Web 2.o?

Here's an interesting video - all visual, with music. No vocals, but somehow, this YouTube video still makes a very powerful statement!

Watch closely - in fact, you might want to watch this more than once because there are a lot of messages presented in various ways.

I was led to this video through Mike Paetzold, one of the creators (along with Jon Olson) of Affiliate Funnel, which is my favorite program - and the program that finally helped me to make sense of all this Internet Marketing information.

Going A.W.O.L From The Net Today

Okay, so I've been up since about 3am. I start University classes this morning and couldn't sleep any longer.

No - it wasn't 'anxiety' about classtime that cut my sleep short. It wasn't the all the details about new class schedules, a new semester, IMPENDING exams that everyone knows will eventually follow...

I am just DARNED EXCITED about the three newest Social Sites I have been invited into:

YUWIE
APSense
Friends Win - NEW

I'm going A.W.O.L. from the Internet today because I have RESPONSIBILITIES now that my semester is upon me. By day, I'll be 'searching for Abraham' for the next 4 months (can you guess what I'll be studying? - hint 'Abraham').

By night, I will be active on these three sites:

YUWIE
APSense
Friends Win - NEW

Just a few hours of interaction already within the members areas of these sites has already shown me that these sites will be a FAST-TRACK to building QUALITY contact list PEOPLE! A short-cut to GOOD, SOLID Information. Friends Win is TOTALLY NEW, so I've only had a few hours' time in the members area. Yuwie and APSense have seen me for many, many hours already. Friends Win is still in Pre-Launch, so grab your spot QUICK. You can attend a teleseminar about Friends Win on Thursday - yep - tomorrow - so you'll be able to hear all about the site right from the creators. *hint* There's something special and quite UNIQUE about Friends Win that is NOT on the other Social Sites yet...try to guess what it is! (don't worry - I'll TELL by the end of the post - but try to guess first!)

The sites are all quite new and the existing GROUPS are mostly 'no-fluff' and 'no-nonsense,' and filled with GOOD INFORMATION. They show a decidedly obvious LACK OF SPAM - Woo Hoo! What a RELIEF!

Anyhow - I have to finish preparing to go A.W.O.L. from the Net just for the day. I have to go find my 'Student' cap, my books, and all that good stuff.

I'll be back this evening to check out who signed up, who started Fast-Tracking their Contact List, who started grabbing good information from the social sites.

Oh - by the way - Friends Win will have a special little added TWIST on the whole 'Social' idea...

VIDEO DATING!!! (told you I would TELL by the end of the post)

How UNIQUE and great is that??

YUWIE
APSense
Friends Win - NEW

Let me know, once I'm back this evening - how you like your members areas!!

Are You Earning What You're Worth?

How much time are you spending trying to earn online?

Are your online activities bringing in the MINIMUM that you have expected them to?

If you think you're spending too much time trying to earn online without seeing results or you've seen some results but these aren't what you expected - and your expectations were really reasonable...

Maybe it's time to review your Primary program.

Here's a major mistake that most beginners make online when they are first attempting to build up an online income. I'll use a true example that just happened recently with a friend of mine.

A peer of mine asked me out for coffee recently and wanted to know what I was doing successfully online to earn money. My peer noticed, from some forum posts that I was earning a little money - FINALLY - and wondered if I was 'telling tales.'

I told her the truth - that I am earning modest amounts - but it has only been happening in the past 6mo or so - since I evaluated and selected a better PRIMARY PROGRAM than I started out with almost 3 years ago. I mentioned that I have also DROPPED some 'tiny' programs that were TIME-WASTERS!

"What do you mean by Primary program?" I was asked, so I told her 'My basic money earning program.'

"Oh I have a bunch of those," my friend said, "I am earning little pennies from a bunch of primary programs and am finding that all this work is just NOT WORTH IT!"

Whoops!

My friend wasn't REALLY aware of what 'Primary Program' means. Her idea of 'primary' program was PLURAL and was just like some of the programs that I recently dropped like hot potatoes! She thought that 'Primary' had something to do with 'paying' programs - almost anything that isn't a 'scam.'

Anyhow - I am still in the process of explaining to her that a Primary program is a non-scam, legitimate money earning program that is of HIGH QUALITY and that can be promoted through other means.

GDI (Though I am not involved with this one) is a Primary program that TONS of people are successfully earning money with. It is a Primary program that people 'focus' on building up. The other 'programs' that people use to combine with GDI and make their GDI business successful are the 'tiny' programs like traffic exchanges, newsletters, autoresponder follow-ups, various emailing (non-spam!) avenues and click programs.

Watkins (not involved in this company either, but I wish I was) is a Primary program that many people are successfully earning money with - in much the same way as GDI members are earning money.

Shaklee, Amway, Pay It Forward For Profits, Success University, and many others are legitimate Primary Programs.

With Shaklee, vitamins and health products are the products of focus. With Amway, a great variety of foods, health items, vitamins, cleaning products and household items are the cold, hard products that are worth promoting. With Pay It Forward, the Marketing program and training items are the products of focus, same with Success University.

The other 'tiny' programs aren't the main focus that brings in the money, when you are involved in Internet Marketing. Getting all your customers to your Primary program or to use the goods available at your primary program - this is what business is all about. You can gain some earnings from the 'tiny' programs you use, too, but what you are really concerned with is allowing your clients to gain access to Shaklee vitamins, Amway dish soap, PIF4P's 'Internet Marketing' lessons, Success University's 'Internet Business' training.

You see - what my friend believed about earning money online is that being involved in a hundred 'tiny' programs would earn her a lot of money if she just kept clicking regularly - and that people would 'catch on' and start signing up as her referrals and start making her life and work easier somewhere down the line.

This doesn't work - rather - this CAN WORK, but it would involve a person designing their OWN Primary program (which many Primary programs are about) which acts as a super downline builder.

It is much easier to utilize a 'cold, hard product' program that is already in existence and bring your potential referrals, clients to that, as your Primary program.

Although the 'design your own Primary program' is not a bad idea, unless you're a very experienced marketer already, this will be somewhat complicated and time-consuming for you to accomplish.

The second idea is much more reliable for someone who has less experience, someone like my friend. Part of the reason is that certain programs already have an excellent REPUTATION, and 'product' that people can use right away. Whether products are in the form of 'software,' 'lessons,' 'eBooks,' 'electronic gadgets,' 'cell phone accessories,' 'downloadable music,' or whatever, they are already good quality and SET UP for access!

I'll just leave you to think about these things. Figure out whether you're spending too much time making program owners (PTR, PTC, TE owners, perhaps) too much money and mistaking their program for a PRIMARY program - when really - you should be utilizing the 'tiny' programs to lead people to other hardcopy items, solid goods, or reputable services.

Are Your Forgetting Something?

Do you use Hotmail? If so, have you clicked around INSIDE Hotmail but outside your email area?

Do you use Yahoo? If so, have you clicked around INSIDE Yahoo but outside your email area?

Do you use Opera? If so...

Did you know that these sites have SPACE for you to use?

See if you can figure out what I might be trying to tell you.....

*Hint* What are you doing with your free Space?

Due To Comments

Between posts, while I have allowed 'comments' to be posted on this blog, I have received notification that my blog is bordering on 'SPAM.'

Apparently, this isn't due to my content - it's due to the comments which are 'Spam.'

I have allowed these in the past because I know how hard it is to get a link out there for people to see. Even though I was displeased with some of the 'comments' people were leaving, I allowed them anyhow, hoping that the person who posted would come back and comment again, leaving REAL INFORMATION and not just a referral link.

If you leave a 'comment,' please leave a contact address, as well.

I have some other blogs, as well, and other viewers/readers who leave PROPER comments elsewhere have received more exposure from me when their comments were proper and valuable. I often bring the comment right to an official blog post and make sure that readers are going to see the commenter's links and words.

Basically, I will re-post the comment into a blog entry and credit the person who commented so that they receive traffic. In this way, I hope to help give some exposure to anyone who leaves decent information and decent program links in my 'comments' section.

Please don't just cruise on by, see that my blog is getting traffic, and then blab your links into my comments area.

Leave a contact address or YOUR blog address through 'Blogger' so that I have a reasonable way to contact you.

I will disable the 'comment' feature if things don't get better. Although this won't be a great situation for me - it will be an even more limiting situation for YOU as readers, if you lose the privilege of both posting comments on my blog AND having me highlight your interests by pushing your comments up to the top of the blog in a regular blog post.

A 'Proper' comment is one that involves information about your opinion on things you have seen on this blog - not simply a fly-by posting of your referral link

Blog Value Went UP!

Awesome - I'm excited. I checked and my blog value went up - from $6774.48 to $7339 and two cents change! I updated on the right side-bar.

If you want to check your blog value, try this:

How Much Is Your Blog Worth?
(opens in new window)

Although the value that How Much Is Your Blog Worth assigns to your blog doesn't necessarily mean that you are being PAID from any one source the said amount of money, the code that How Much Is Your Blog Worth can provide you with can add a nice graphic to your blog.

It's easy to use the code - just copy and paste into your blog template.

Enjoy

Feed Shark

Possibililties for EVERYTHING online

Don't buy in to all of the ads that say you can make money ONLY by clicking here, reading this or that and then you'll collect money. The ones that imply that 'All You Have To Do Is...'

Also - Don't buy all the crap that says you can NEVER earn REAL MONEY with clicks and read-for-pay programs.

Please beware of statements that are far off to one side of the Always-Never continuum. There are always possibilities in the middle!

Though there are even very LEGITIMATE read for pay sites out there, they usually don't provide each individual with enough reading material to make a really decent payout possible on a regular basis.

The Solution(s):

1. Basic email marketing tactics to gain referrals and build a mailing list
2. Forum promotion tactics (posting in forums and displaying the URL of your choice program in your forum signature) - combined with list-building, email follow-up
3. Traffic Exchanges, both manual and auto - combined with 'email capture' methods
4. Word of mouth, combined with email follow-up
5. Banner exchanges - combined with leading to a squeeze page for 'email capture'
(* Hint - all LIST-BUILDING TECHNIQUES, and all about EMAIL!!)

There are a lot of other methods for promotion, too, but I didn't intend this post to be about every method of promotion. I intended to make a post to alleviate some of the 'ABSOLUTE' statements that go around online all the time. Also, I thought it best to show how important EMAILING is for making money online.

Basically, you CAN TOO earn money online with ONLY "Paid To Perform" programs, however, you must still learn some of the same 'marketing tactics' that other kinds of businesses use online.

You will rarely see a windfall with just clicking, reading emails and signing up for trial programs. This is the 'scammy' part of program advertising (being told that small actions and minimal effort are all there is to making money online), however, if there wasn't a way to really earn online, all the PTC (Paid to Click), PTSU (Paid To Sign Up), PTR (Paid To Read) and PTP (Paid To Promote/Participate) programs online would just fall away completely.

The TRUTH:

These programs DO PROVIDE people with ways to earn good money.

The part of TRUTH that is missing from most promotions:

These programs require EXPERIENCE in the field of (email) marketing for individuals to actually make good money.
(*Another hint - think 'autoresponder').

Most programs only give out the 'possible' outcome of participating in the program but will not show you how to accomplish making money with the program.

In this - most PTC, PTSU, PTR, and PTP programs make a KILLING on user upgrades from NEWBIES who still don't know how to promote effectively, build a referral base and market themselves and their programs online. The sites will take the money and run. They're not breaking any rules - they're just putting out the 'opportunity.' It is up to clients, users, members to learn how the programs work.

Because of this, I am still involved in a few PTC, PTR and similar programs but I don't promote to full extent. I have other interests and am much more interested in Product Creation, Proof reading and Editing, Writing, Resales and Hard-Copy products.

The PTCs, etc., that I'm still involved with provide me with some affordable advertising opportunities, exposure for my other interests, and are beneficial to me in other ways - even if I don't upgrade and market an entirely PTC-based affiliate business.

I'm providing this information because I have had some emails recently from members I chat with in PTC/PTR forums who like my blogs and KNOW that I am present in PTC/PTR circles but they always wonder why I don't put PTC/PTR information on my blogs when I'm obviously having some success with the programs.

The truth is - because PTC/PTR isn't my main earning interest. I use these programs as part of my 'toolbox' for earning online, not as my main source of earning online.

I have made a choice not to participate fully in marketing these programs, simply because my interests and skills lie elsewhere. Frankly, I'm not very good at keeping organized with the number of PTC and PTR programs that I feel I would need to be involved with in order to earn a good living. That's my downfall - I don't organize my sets of programs well, so it would be a disaster for me to make these programs my main source of online income. I engage more with 'already organized' programs, downline builders, and affiliate centre programs instead. These programs keep everything organized FOR ME.

People who do well with PTR and PTC-ing seem to be very VERY good organizers! A few of my acquaintances are still baffled as to why I don't 'get on their boat' but the truth is - They are more organized and more creative with organizational methods than I am. They have organized their autoresponders, PTC/PTR Lessons for referral training, and are organized with providing help to the participant of the programs they promote.

I caved and looked for easier programs, plain and simple. I post on blogs and 'wing-it' with whoever comes by to read my material. My PTC/PTR Peers stay in better contact with their 'list' of readers and participants.

Which brings me around to the first points on this blog post. My acquaintances who are earning good money with programs that most people label as 'distasteful' and 'total scam programs,' are doing so in legal, organized ways. They are using the same kinds of tools and methods that many other fields of marketing and money earning use:

Autoresponders, email marketing, list-building.

I'll let readers think about this for a bit while I go check my email - I made sure to send out a few emails to 'friends' to let them know that I finally posted on my blog about the validity of PTC/PTR-ing. Hopefully when they visit the blog, they will feel supported now!

KISS Conspiracy Over At Traffic G!

Alright, I'm CONVINCED that there is some kind of KISS Conspiracy going on over at Traffic G!

Yes, you're thinking RIGHT - I do mean KISS - The Rock Band. I think that ACE FREHLEY is up to something...

What has ACE FREHLEY done now? Has he paid Traffic G Traffic Exchange to ONLY put his picture up there? Has he conspired with Traffic G to keep the other KISS Band 'mugs' off the Traffic Exchange, or what?

Where the heck are Gene, Paul and Peter? Oh, so Tommy Thayer's version of Spaceman isn't a good enough portrayal of this character - for Traffic G? Is that supposed to be Ace or Tommy? Looks like ACE to me! And Maybe we could see Anton Fig's Unmasked face once in a while, eh? Maybe Eric Carr?? And what about Vinnie Vincent (Ankh Warrior) if Traffic G INSISTS on the make-up, huh?

Mark St. John (recently passed away, April 2007), Bruce Kulick, Eric Singer (the other Eric - Eric Carr passed away in 1991, age 41, after a 'gig' with Cancer) - what about those guys?

No - Instead, Traffic G just shows us The Spaceman.

What kind of fairness is that.

PEOPLE!!!

Ace left the band at least TWICE - just walked away from The Boys! Bye Bye Spaceman.

So why does ACE's mug get to be plastered around at Traffic G when I am surfing?

Did ACE PAY Traffic G for this privilege? Does he OWN part of Traffic G? Shoot, what a raw deal going on over there!

Frankly, I'm still a little ticked at Ace from way back when, aren't you?

Check it out - you won't see The Demon, The Starchild or Catman.

Are You Using ALL The Tools Available To You?

Are you promoting your business with all the tools at your disposal or not?

Does your webhost have an affiliate program?
If so, are you PART OF IT so that you can earn from it?

Are you using Roboform?
Are you getting paid to promote it at the same time that you're already telling others about how you like the program? (You ARE telling others, aren't you?)

Are you using free email services like Hotmail, Yahoo and others? Have you also joined GROUPS that are within Hotmail and Yahoo communities?

Have you made sure to INSERT a reasonable contact address into your IM profile details, your hotmail communites and yahoo communities profiles so that other members can contact you if they're interested in what you're promoting or the programs you're involved in?

Is there a 'USER Community' for the browser software that you're using? For example, Opera browser has its own HUGE Community. There are over 900 000 members in that community and Opera offers a memberpage, blog, photo page, along with 'groups,' 'forums' and a whole lot of other features.

I have my BLOG set as my homepage at Opera communities

You can set your homepage up to show your profile or photo page or whatever you like.

Don't forget that Social Marketing is HUGE these days. It's likely never to go away now that Social Marketing has become runaway networking phenomena!

Check out what services you're already using, what memberships you're already involved with. See if these memberships and services have message boards, groups, any kinds of mass-reaching ways to contact other members.

Set up your profiles (safely - don't forget safety - use email addresses that you select just for business contact or contact related to your online interests).

Use the blogging, message board and communications software that is offered FREE with most memberships. Maximize your exposure by using whatever is available.

List Bandit Promo Tools

Okay I'm back and I'm a little more focused - which is how all the GURUS of Internet Marketing and Internet BIZ say one must be in order to succeed... (wondering if I just plagiarized that from one of the THOUSANDS of marketing ebooks and reports I have sitting in my computer...nope I think the statment is public domain haha).

So the promo tools that even FREE members at List Bandit receive are:

* 5 suggested signature lines (these are worded by the experts and they WORK!)
* 4 pre-written newsletter ads
* 2 Top Sponsor ads
* 3 email ads
* 15 subject lines for emailing
* Downline Builder - 4 other income opportunities (but I'm sure they'll add more)

AND BEST OF ALL - Now, List Bandit has 9 (you read that right - NINE) attractive banners to help you promote and build your list.

(The biggest one doesn't even fit this blog template but I'm posting it anyway so you'll have an idea of how large it is - would be a great page header!)

One of the banners is glitchy and the graphics aren't showing.....I'm going to leave it on the post because the folks at List Bandit might be in the process of fixing it. There are a lot of new things going on with this program - ALL GOOD!

They are working on giving members SPLASH PAGES and DOWNLINE BUILDER Pages, too, so I'll update on this blog as soon as those are ready!

Did I mention that List Builder is from Gary Ambrose? (No - of course I did'nt, but I am now!)...now if anyone knows about list-building it is Gary Ambrose! You can't go wrong by getting into this program right away. As mentioned already, there are MORE BENEFITS coming yet!

Gary has this system set up so that you'll be getting the most out of VERIFIED opt-in leads! The people who are going to see your promo material are going to see it because they verified to be on your list. How great is this?

You can leave me comments about what you think...

List Bandit - Improved Graphics!

As you can see on my last post, the graphics are no longer working for the List Bandit banners!

Now - half the time when you see those banners there with the li'l 'x' only at the corner, it's usually because some site went offline and took their 'stuff' with 'em.......ka-put!

But this isn't the case with List Bandit - wow - they IMPROVED their promotional tools.

I logged in to my account to send a mailer out and was nearly blown over - the new graphics really ROCK...

DUH@me - I never bothered checking this blog past the first few lines of my last post - ("Okay, well I'm feeling kind of NUTTY today..." not just THAT DAY lol) and beyond checkin' to see if my Code Amber Alert tickers were still functioning properly!

So I just showed up out of NOWHERE *looks both ways* I mean - NOWHERE - lol - to make a post to my blog about AGLOCO - 'cos the VIEWBAR is ready, up and running, and I'm excited about that 'cos I've logged my hours already this month...woo hoo FREE MONEY just for runnin' a viewbar - how great is THAT?

Anyhow - I digress a lot, eh?

So I showed up to post about the AGLOCO VIEWBAR and

BAM

I hit the dead graphics on my blog...I've already taken up enough time chitty-chattin' - I'm still in a WHACKY MOOD (Yay FREE TIME - no classes for several weeks yet - I can barely stand it!)...so I'm going to get the heck out of this blog for a few minutes, go gather the graphics - the NEW graphics from List Bandit - and I'll be back within the hour to show you all the new, cool-looking, attractive stuff that the List Bandit team just put together for members...

BTW - if you're a newbie to internet marketing and blogging as a way to earn money - this post you're reading right now is exactly how you do NOT want to present yourself to the world haha.

I don't really care today - as I said - I'm FREEEEEEEEE (for a few more weeks) and I am going to have FUN for a little while. Sheeeeesh Internet Marketing gets SO SERIOUS anyway, don't you think?

3 Things Wrong About This Post That Newbies Should Avoid:

3. Tons of SLANG
2. Mention of several 'products/opportunities' without fully explaining BENEFITS.
1. Post - NOT WELL THOUGHT-OUT, not presented clearly...

SO THE POST STANDS, FOLKS - if nothing else, I just showed a buncha newbie peeps (more slang, infraction of #3) what a nasty post looks like so that they can avoid doing the same...I'm going to continue to 'blurb' about Code Amber Alert tickers whenever I feel like it, even if I am talking about Agloco, List Bandit, Forums, Code Amber Alert tickers or whatever, in this post OR other posts (see #2 mistake above) and will also be leaving, before I hit the 'publish now' button, an Agloco banner ('cos I just found these - YAY - so I ditched my 'learn how to make banners and connect them to your referral ID' lesson. I will be leaving the Agloco banner on the blog post at the bottom (without explanation of benefits - see #2 above again) just before I get outta here to try and avoid the #1 mistake (see above) by the next time I post - haha!

I'll be back within the hour - to show you the new and awesome List Bandit banners.

Let me tellya - there are MORE BANNERS than you would THINK over at Agloco! These are just a certain size - there are thin skyscrapers, thick ones, little half-banners, 3 sizes of rectangular banners, squares, holy cow - there are a lot! You won't have ANY TROUBLES at all finding the right size or shape of banner for your sites or blogs...

(notice how I just stuffed this one in here - kinda sneaky eh? lol)

I'm leaving now - before I start explaining BENEFITS of Agloco (that belongs to a more well-thought out post that I have to make in the near future haha).

Take care!

Goin Crazy List Building

Okay, well I'm feelin' kind of NUTTY today and am workin' on my own list-building programs, strategies. I thought I would just make a post and show all the fantastic list-building programs that there are out on the WWW. I'm not sure why more people aren't concerned about LIST BUILDING because with these programs, every one of 'em, you can not only build your LIST for your own particular progams of interest - but you can also earn money from each of these programs as an affiliate! You can get paid to build your list of people who are going to be directed to your MAIN INTEREST programs...

Nice, eh?

I'll come back and clean up this post - I've got about 9 windows open, grabbing cool banners and such, so I want to get 'em all posted...

Here are the handy banners that LIST BANDIT gives you in your members' area:

(first, a rather plain banner with text - but it gets the point across, eh?)

(then two kinds of banners)

and

Okay now this next program is going to take up a LOT of space. I'm just going to post the banners and show you how many there are - for FREE - for you to use in promoting this program (which, in turn, builds your list - for your other interests - how cool is this, anyway?):

The program is "The List Machine" and it's BIG!
Here are the banners:

(first the itty bitty ones)

(be very careful if you use some of these with the 'click here' showing or flashing! If you're working with 'ads53n53' - this kind of blatant directing of readers to 'click here' is currently prohibited by ads****/goodle...oops 'G00913' but I'm leavin' the typo in 'cos I kinda like it lol - you know what I'm talkin' about)

(and on to the bigger better banners - say that 10 times really fast 'bigger better banners')

and lastly............BAM - the bigger better banner that looks pretty cool in html emails (that you are sending out to your growing LIST - RIGHT???)

The List Machine also has convenient signature lines ready to copy and past for your forum and email signatures, handy newsletter ads, 'top sponsor' ads, solo email mailing text, and a cool splash page. Right click and 'go to' in a new window if you'd like to check out the effective splash page from The List Machine

(he he - I just checked to make sure the link works - HOW COOL IS IT that The List Machine banners perfectly match the orange 'yo! this is a link here' feature on my blog - you know the 'mouse over effect.')

And with that, I've changed my mind about posting more of my list-building programs. I also just checked the space I have used up - WHOA - banners take up a LOT OF ROOM, huh? I will be back later on to make a different post. I'm still checkin' out all the cool banners elsewhere that I get to use for promotion!

Wow - some of you will need sunglasses to view this post - that orange colour on the banners is SOME BRIGHT, eh?

Back soon - gotta dash and close up some of these other windows before my computer complains!!

Here's The Niche Empire Generator

Everyone is talking about Niche this and Niche that.

Well 'Niche' is a specialized category, so don't get confused by Internet Marketing lingo that makes you think that you can't figure out what's going on.

A Niche is simply a particular category of products, services, of information that you're interested in - that you know a lot about - and that you'd like to promote online.

"Finding Your Niche" isn't rocket science, by any means. It simply means finding your area of interest, providing that it lines up with your area of knowledge, skill, or whatever tasks you like to do - and turning that interest Niche into your 'Online Business.'

I have a ton of interests but not all my skills line up with my interests, so some 'Niches' are not a good area for me to get into.

For instance - I love games - video games - but I have a lot of studying to do and I don't play video games as much as I would like to. Therefore, I wouldn't try to open up a blog or website and tailor it to providing video games, video game information or anything. I wouldn't do well in the Video Gaming Niche at all. I just like to play Starcraft once in a while, check out some strategy forums for tips and really - Starcraft has a HUGE following but it isn't the newest game around.

You can see why I would have a terrible and unsuccessful time if I tried to jump out online and become a Video Game Marketer and promote these. I'm not really even up to date with video gaming sheesh!

I don't know why so many people constantly use the term 'Niche Market' because all Marketing uses Niches! Sometimes a 'Niche' is overpopulated and it's hard to sell products in that Niche because everyone and their aunt is selling the same products in the same market!

I don't know why there are so many products out there that say "Learn Niche Marketing" in particular and that treat 'Niche Marketing' as some special new-fangled kind of Marketing. A lot of scammers make money this way, promoting 'Niche Programs' like they're something that you can't get and that belong only to the word 'Niche' or something.

If you heard somebody saying that they wanted to sell you a new kind of pet, a new breed of cat - The BLUE FELIX CAT or something, that might be something to look into - if it really were a new and different breed from the others. But selling 'Niche' as something completely different from most marketing online - or inherently 'special' in internet marketing - is kind of like bringing your new BLUE FELIX CAT home, only to find out that it is a regular Tabby with the hair dyed BLUE!

Don't get me wrong - there is a special category of marketing called 'Niche Marketing' too. It took me about a year of checkin' this out - but it seems to me, after reading constantly about 'Niche' information - that someone doing targetted 'Niche Marketing' is simply someone who attacks a number of 'niches' at once. There is a plan of attack in doing this - but it's basically a 'tactic' of Marketing, not a wholly different thing than Marketing. I think that this term is generally overused and probably gained popularity due to the internet - because much that happens in the world of internet marketing is different than offline marketing where you're dealing with 'Brick and Mortar' issues like storage space, business space rental, hardcopy everything and physical products.

Anyhow - if you're already into 'Niche Marketing' (and you probably are, if you're into marketing at all), here's a really cool program - with a bunch of information at the members site, too. This program has SO MANY PROMOTIONAL tools in the individual members area - it's not even funny!

Hence - I hope you'll seriously look into this:

Does Your Blog Have Potential?

Hey - I thought I would just share a little tool I found a while ago for blogs. It's just a little tool that shows how much your blog might be worth.

This isn't an end-all, tell all kind of thing but it's interesting.

How Much Is Your Blog Worth?

You won't necessarily start making the amount it shows, but you'll certainly be able to see what kind of potential for making money your blog has.

Only you can outfit your blog with the content, links, ads, and information that will allow you to earn money online. This nifty little 'tool' will just give you an idea of how much your blog appears to be worth to people who might - say - be wanting to use a high-profile, quality blog - to advertise on.

How Much Is Your Blog Worth?

This is from Dan Carleson's "Business Opportunities Weblog" and there are a lot of good links on this page.

Code Amber Alert System Now On This Blog

I have decided that even if this blog is about money making, it will be a good place to place the Canadian and US Code Amber Alert System tickers.

These tickers give information to a general public in Canada and the USA, about child kidnappings and abductions. When the background in the message area is coloured Yellow/Amber, that means that a child has recently been abducted or kidnapped and you should read the details about the AMBER ALERT currently in progress. The incident might have just occurred in your area and may give details about how you can help law enforcement officials find the child before the abductor/kidnapper exacts any harm upon the child.

Had this system been developed on or before 1996, the child whom the program is named after, Amber Hagerman, might have been returned safely to her parents and her home. Instead, this system wasn't available. Amber had been riding her bike when someone kidnapped her from a public area. There were some witnesses that saw the kidnapper with Amber but they had no reason to alert authorities because they didn't know that Amber should not have been with this person - that this person was, in fact, her kidnapper. Later, Amber was brutally murdered.

I believe that the tickers will be an important addition to this blog, even if they aren't 'on-topic.' This only means that someone who is not browsing about 'child kidnapping' material - MIGHT SEE AN ALERT HAPPENING IN THEIR AREA and they might be able to HELP a child!

Please, if you see the tickers 'blackened' or otherwise in non-functional state, contact me ASAP so that I can check to see if an Internet or Site error has occurred to interrupt the function of the tickers. I will check and correct whatever problem I can if it is possible from my end of things so that the tickers are constantly ready to be able to broadcast real-time alerts.

Thank you, ahead of time!

Agloco - All Advantage Is Back!

I was using The All Advantage viewbar on the internet to make money before 2000!

I'm so glad that the whole idea of this kind of non-intrusive paid-to-surf bar is back again - in the Agloco company.

A Bit of Info About Affiliate Marketing

Affiliate Marketing is one of the fastest growing industries online. Income made through affiliate programs counts in billions of dollars yearly. Many people get involved in this type of income earning without a solid plan for success. Since it is inexpensive and very easy to get into, we also see untrained individuals sign up for 'affiliate marketing' progams - who will not succeed in the business unless they learn that they do, indeed, need A PLAN!

Affiliate Marketing is like anything else that involves income. It requires a PLAN. It requires that you develop plans, make plans, follow plans, re-design, and then stick to plans that are working. Most people disregard the requirement for 're-designing' original plans, shifting gears, and they get discouraged when 'Plan A' doesn't return what they expected.

Online, we're playing with a ton of variables. Marketing plans need to be flexible enough to follow along with changes happening online, but once you find something within your plan that works - STICK TO IT - and stay focused.

You'll need to work from a 'base plan' that's for sure...but beyond total basics, you'll need to be flexible and adaptable. The base plan is necessary - as it is with all business - because how can something take form if there is no base under it to anchor things to?

I mean - how can you just earn money online as an affiliate if you have no experience with affiliate programs?

You can't!

Most people who fail in the Affiliate markets do so because they don't realize that they have to get that BASE PLAN underneath them before they can expect success. If the base plan means 'training' then so be it. Take every opportunity to learn about affiliate marketing that works.
And never forget that affiliate marketing isn't a 'get rich quick' scheme, for you won't earn affiliate riches without learning how affiliate business works!

I get really sick'n'tired of all the 'get rich' programs I see online. Believe me I have checked out a great many of them.....and they all forget to tell you that EARNING ONLY COMES IN RESPONSE TO WORK ACCOMPLISHED!

Most of the 'get rich' jargon says "EASY" and "IMMEDIATE CASH" but sorry people - it's not true for the majority of people who enter into the market.

However - that doesn't mean that all the online earning methods are scams, either. Sure - even some of the 'Get Rich' programs are legitimate, too - even the ones that say "EASY" and "IMMEDIATE CASH" - but only if you already have a lot of experience with similar programs and can turn the knowledge you already have toward that new 'EASY IMMEDIATE CASH' program that you just joined. Or - if you have the FUNDS to throw into the 'EASY IMMEDIATE CASH' programs, you're likely going to earn a lot of money 'EASY' and more 'IMMEDIATELY' than someone who doesn't have the money to throw in the right direction.

Don't let all of these warnings set you back on your idea to get into online earning...I'm just trying to be honest with you.

The benefits of earning online with Affiliate programs are pretty attractive, to say the least.

#1. Home Set Up...you're likely going to do this new affiliate income biz from the comfort of your own home...

#2. No commuting! (Ties in with #1)

#3. With most affiliate or other online earning methods, once you learn properly and are doing things CORRECTLY and having some good results - then it is up to you how much you make from your online business. If you want to make MORE MONEY - work harder for a while. If you need some time off - take it!

#4. You work from home....if this becomes your only job - you can take your vacations when you want to! Much of your online biz details will run automatically while you're gone anyway.

#5. There are unbelievable amounts of 'affiliate' opportunities that you might not even expect 'til you ask a few extra questions. You're probably using a whole bunch of 'services' and products that you didn't even ASK about making money with!

For instance...did you use Roboform to log in to your email, website, forum, or any member site location today?

If you did...do you know that they have an affiliate program and you can earn money by referring others to use Roboform?

If you already have a website.....did you check to see that if you also put a special banner on your site from the webhosts you might get paid an affiliate commission for anyone who is led from your site to the main site to sign up for their own website?

If you use a website building software - did you check and see if that software company pays affiliates or not? Most places use affiliate means and marketing to help gain more customers...affiliate methods are ALL OVER THE PLACE!

I'm not going to be a 'referral monger' at this time and place all my Roboform and Software affiliate banners all over the place.

I just wanted to post some information about how lucrative and widespread Affiliate programs are! You are likely using at least 3 to a half dozen programs for leisure or basic work on your computer - that you didn't even know contain affiliate, money earning opportunities!

I'll be back soon to post about 'Planning' with affiliate marketing. Until then, have a look around your computer and check to see how many programs you currently use - that you're LOSING MONEY from by not understanding or taking advantage of affiliate opportunities that exist by your ownership of those programs.

Nu Url : Program Review

Nu Url is a site that has an affiliate program while offering the benefits of shortening your ref-links, blog links, website links, and other links so that they won't be tampered with.

Their site is very easy to navigate and the shortening of URLs involves a simple process of basically only 3 clicks. (Only 3 more clicks to make SURE that you are organized in your members area).

You can't get much simpler than that!

Nu Url .us - Turn Your Long URL into a Nu Url !!

After you log in, just:

1. Click the 'Create Nu Url' link
2. Enter the Url/ref-link that you want to protect/shorten
3. Click the 'Create Nu Url' Button....

Voila! Your link is created.

Okay okay - so you want to stay organized?

Click on the 'Members Area' link and your newly created URL will be in a list. You'll be able to 'edit' your link here - meaning - 'Name your link' using the edit feature so that you can easily tell which link is 'which-from-what-not' among the list.

From your Members Area, you can also 'reset' your link-hit count by clicking on the 'reset' icon directly beside each individual item. This won't reset everything, so it's great for tracking specific ref-links but not others - it's up to you.

Maybe you want a daily count on one site but a weekly count on another. If so, only re-set the daily onces that you're interested in tracking that way...simple

Beautiful!

Nu Url .us - Turn Your Long URL Into a Nu Url !!

Also, from this area - you can view the Nu Url-made link or your original link so that if you forget where in the heck you put your ref-link data , you don't have to worry. Both bits of info waiting for you in your Members Area.

Did I mention that Nu Url will PAY YOU for using their program? Yep - they pay out, too, which is a bonus with this program. I would use their tracker service even if they didn't have an affiliate opportunity! The Nu Url system is just SO EASY to use!

So, that's my review...

I love the

LOVE THE PROGRAM!

Nu URL ROCKS!!!

Nu Url - Turn Your Long URL Into a Nu Url !!

If you're not tracking your links yet, how are you going to know how much traffic you're receiving to your site, blog, program, etc?

Start Your Online Business Today

It's not secret to those who know me - that my favorite program for MONTHS is the Resell Rights For Newbies program by Liz Tomey and John Hostler.

Resell Rights For Newbies

I mean - even if you find that 'Resell Rights' aren't for you - the free videos that Liz and John have made available are second-to-none! The videos walk the viewer through every stage of what it takes to set up a simple online Reseller business. You can change the 'reseller' part anytime you want and do some other 'niche' or area of business online.

The plain truth of the matter is:

In order to become really successful with a sustainable business and online earning, you'll need a website.

Luckily, Liz and John's videos show you how to deal with getting a website set up - right from selecting your web domain name and gaining a web hosting account - right on up to how to upload files to your new website, make pages where people can download from you and - best of all - how to make sure you get PAID automatically from the download page!

This program is something that you shouldn't pass up! It's free for the time being, but I'm not sure how long Liz and John are planning on allowing all of this advanced information to be had for free!

Mind-sets and Myth - Believe In Yourself

Many people will fail in their efforts to earn money online simply
because they don't acquire the right mindset to 'to the job.'

It is true that there is an annoying abundance (too much so) of scams
and scammers online waiting to steal your money, however, in real life,
on the real streets, roads, and pathways, there are also scammers and
scams just waiting to happen. This second fact doesn't keep most
people from going to work, changing jobs, finding better jobs, and
setting up their businesses. It shouldn't keep YOU from setting up your
internet business and earning online if this is really what you've
decided to do!

To start, you'll have to learn to develop the self-talk, attitude, and
focused mind-set that is necessary to succeed. This doesn't just apply
to online efforts, but also is important in EVERYTHING YOU DO!

If your attitudes are not in line with what you want to accomplish, you
will have a difficult time succeeding in oline business. Even the best
softwares, connections, tools and information will be of no great use to
you if you haven't got the mind-set for making your ideas work!

10 important things to keep in mind or to consistently do:

1- Don't allow past failures to dictate what you will do today!

2- Don't focus on problems! Acknowledge problems but focus on
solutions!

3- Every challenge is an opportunity

4- Focus on success, optimism,
solutions, positive results, and moving ahead

5- block negative people OUT of your head and your business

6-actively remind yourself that your goals are attainable

7- see your environment as abundant - use what is available for good
purpose

8- keep a 'Daily Success' journal and record daily accomplishments

9- once per day, at least - read aloud yesterday's accomplishments

10- View 'failure' as 'instruction' or as 'lessons' instead of negative
things.

Make these 10 items into a checklist for a different section of your Daily
Success journal.

Use this journal at least twice per day - once at the very beginning of
your day - and if your day has been too hectic, at least dedicate time
to using your journal a second time - at the end of the day.

It would be extra helpful to have a 'hard-copy' journal instead
of an electronic (doc.file of some sort) kind of journal - because you
should be able to carry a small journal-book almost anywhere during
your day. If your spirits need a boost, this way, your journal can always
be with you. Dedicate yourself to keeping this journal for at least 30
days.

Whether you already have the right physical tools for success or not
(tools for internet business - software, webspace, products, etc), you
still have to stay focused.

You also must BELIEVE in yourself and your purpose. Possibly, the
only reason why you haven't achieved online success yet is because
you haven't APPLIED yourself to make your dreams happen. Quite
simply - you've just 'not done it yet,' that's all. You may have even
'started' before - but you likely haven't followed through with applying
your ideas yet. Just because it hasn't been done yet, doesn't mean that
it is not possible. The exact opposite is often true - because it hasn't
been done yet, it is entirely possible! In fact, because it hasn't been
done yet - ensures that your ideas have not been DISPROVEN! Look at
things THIS WAY - instead of other ways that debilitate your spirit and
sink your resolve or beliefs in yourself and your ideas!

Obeus.com - The Democratic Ads System

Watch successful people!

You'll notice that most successful people are really highly FOCUSED on
the ideas surrounding SUCCESS! Also - they TRULY BELIEVE in
themselves and their ideas. The present positive points, solutions, and
often see 'challenges' where other people see ruin.

If you don't have highly successful, positive people directly within
your own circle of friends, or you have restrictions of any kind with
physically meeting up with successful people, there are TONS of
videos online - and pertinent audio recordings available from
successful people wanting to share their positivity and success.

In a short time, you'll likely not have to worry at all about the last
paragraph or any restrictions in the way of being around highly
motivated, successful, positive-minded people - because YOU WILL
ATTRACT them as soon as you are like-minded, concentrating on
positive, motivational, and successful ideas, people, outlets for your
ideas, etc.

I'm not 100% sure why it happens - but in the same way, I'm not
100% familiar with gravity or why gravity is a certain thing in our
world - I only know that they both are absolutely REAL. Like will attract
like - just the same as gravity will make things with a certain weight fall
down!

Since I just introduced a science topic tidbit (gravity), I'll draw your attention to
another little scientific topic - a wonderment - one of old...

Scientist of old used to believe that the Earth was flat - that if you went
to the very edge of it, you could fall off and disappear forever.
Consequently the entire world population of old believed this - because
this is what all the best science could explain about the Earth.

Then a person of scientific background who found out differently - who
figured out that the Earth wasn't flat - was very unpopular with the
masses during his lifetime. The first few generations of people who read
of or heard of his claims that the Earth was a sphere - were in turmoil,
however, a few generations later, the world population commonly
accepted the 'round' or 'spherical' Earth explanation.

Once the newer explanation was accepted into belief and knowledge,
then future scientists and populations could utilize this information to
better advantage - better than when they thought the Earth was flat!

Explorers were no longer hedging distances they sailed due to fear of
falling off the Earth...they could now sail an UNLIMITED distance,
discover lands, seas and places that they would never have guessed
about. They could sail around the world if they wanted to!

Well, they wanted to!
And they did!

The power of belief in YOU can be just as debilitating as you let it be. It
can be as debilitating as believing the world is flat.

Or - your beliefs can be as EMPOWERING as the belief that the world is
round!

Where do you want to go?

To the edge of the Earth?

Or around the world?

:)

Zone Alarm: review

Malware.

An odd sounding word as a category created to lump all malicious software programs into - including viruses, worms, trojans, spyware, adware, and other malevolent codes.

In 2005, Computer Economics released a report on malware. The good news was that for the first time since 2002, the total worldwide financial losses from malware actually declined to a mere $14.2 billion. The bad news was that the nature of malware was changing from overt threats to more focused, covert attacks.

This definitely is not great news for the average computer user just trying to keep up with the hundreds of malware programs that bombard us daily.

Keeping malware out of your computer system is no easy task. To do so, you need an effective antivirus program. One such program is the ZoneAlarm Internet Security Suite 6 from Zone Labs. Zone Labs is one of the most trusted companies in the Internet Security field for a good reason. Their product kicks serious malware butt!

ZoneAlarm has received high review recommendations - higher than most other Internet-security software suites because of its superb firewall and antivirus protection. It blocks pop-up ads, protects against identify theft and provides adequate spam filters that are flexible. It even beats the market leader, Norton Internet Security, which is often criticized for excessive system drag.

The newest Zone Labs Zone Alarm version includes these additional features:

Triple Defense Firewall to prevent spyware from sending your information across the Internet.

It also makes your computer invisible to anyone on the Net.

Smart Defense Advisor which can automatically adjust your security settings for maximum protection against the latest virus and spyware outbreaks.

Advanced Identify and Privacy Protection to prevent your personal data from leaving your computer without your approval.

A bonus for the average user who cringes at the idea of setting-up one of these systems is that the interface is easier to understand and use - as compared to most competitor software. If you choose to venture beyond the out-of-the-box default settings, and install a more elaborate filtering, know that this will require some additional time to set up on your part.

Overall, the Zone Alarm Internet Security Suite is user-friendly and provides a comprehensive security solution that will keep your computer more safe from Internet hazards and cyber criminals than most security suites do. Your protection will be set up within minutes of installation.

The Battle Against Spam

Fighting Spam
How prevalent is Spam? According to Scott McAdams, OMA(Ontario Medical Association) Public Affairs and Communications Department (www.oma.org):

"Studies show unsolicited or 'junk' e-mail, known as spam, accounts for roughly half of all e-mail messages received. Although once regarded as little more than a nuisance, the prevalence of spam has increased to the point where many users have begun to express a general lack of confidence in the effectiveness of e-mail transmissions, and increased concern over the spread of computer viruses via unsolicited messages."

(what was meant above is.........It's ALL OVER THE PLACE, Affecting nearly everyone.)

In December of 2003, in the U.S.A., President Bush signed the "Can Spam" bill. This was the first national standard developed surrounding the issue of 'bulk, unsolicited commercial e-mail'. Approved by 97 to 0, in a vote within the Senate, this bill prohibits senders of unsolicited commercial e-mail from using false return addresses to disguise their identity (spoofing) and the use of directories to generate such mailers.

In addition, it prohibits use of misleading subject lines and requires that emails include an easily visible 'opt-out' mechanism. The legislation also prohibits senders from 'harvesting' addresses from Web sites.

Violations constitute a 'misdemeanor crime' - subject to up to one year in jail.

One major point that requiring attention in this issue with spam is:

Spam is now coming from other countries in ever-greater numbers. Foreign emails are harder to fight, because they come from outside our country’s laws and regulations. Because the Internet extends beyond borders and internet users tend to have 'global mindset' when using the internet, the U.S. laws are fine where they can be employed and upheld - but are not sufficient to stop the collective 'Spam problem.'

What can be done about this?

Well - here are the top 5 Suggestions to protect yourself from spam:

Number 1: Do what you can to avoid having your email address out on the net.
There are products called "spam spiders" that search the Internet for email addresses to send email to. If you are interested, do a search on "spam spider" and you will be amazed at what you will find. Interestingly, there is a site, WebPoison.org, which is an open source project geared to fight Internet "spambots" and "spam spiders", by giving them bogus HTML web pages, which contain bogus email addresses

A couple suggestions for this issue a) use form emails, which can hide addresses or also b) use addresses like sales@company.com instead of your full address to help battle the problem. c) There are also programs that encode your email, like jsGuard, which encodes your email address on web pages so that spam spiders will have difficulty reading your email address.

Number 2: Get spam blocking software. There are many programs out there for this. (try http://www.cloudmark.com/ or http://www.mailwasher.net/ ). You may also buy a professional version. Whatever you do, get the software. It will save you time. The software is not foolproof, but really does help. Often, a certain amount of 'manual set-up' is required, but it's worth it in order to block certain types of email.

Number 3: Use the multiple email address approach.
There are a lot of free email addresses available online. If you feel that you must subscribe to newsletters, then simply create a "back-up" email address. This would be somewhat like giving your cell phone number to only your best friends but the phone number with your voicemail options to everyone else.

Number 4: Attachments from people you don’t know are BAD, BAD, BAD.
A common problem with spam is that they have attachments and attachments can have viruses. Corporations often have filters that don’t let such things pass to you. Personal email is far more "open country" for spamers. General rule of thumb: if you do not know who is sending you something, DO NOT OPEN THE ATTACHMENT. Secondly, look for services that offer filtering. Firewall vendors offer this type of service as well.

Number 5: Email services now have "bulk-mail" baskets. If what you use currently does not support this, think about moving to a new vender. The concept is simple. If you know someone, they can send you emails. If you don’t know them, put them in the bulk email pile and then "choose" to allow them into your circle. Spam Blocking software has this concept as well, but having extra layers seems critical these days, so it is worth looking into.

Viruses Will Come a-Knocking

Every day new computer viruses are created to annoy us and to wreak havoc on our computer systems. Below are ten viruses that I feel are very prevalent and potentially damaging to the average person's computer system.

This is by no means a comprehensive, complete list. New viruses are constructed DAILY and there are hundreds of thousands of different viruses being circulated constantly online. To avoid becoming 'infected', remain vigilant (don't EVER surf the web with your 'anti-anything-ware' shut off - even for a few minutes!) Keep your anti-virus software updated, and stay aware of the current computer virus threats.

Here's the small list of viruses that are very common

Virus: Trojan.Lodear
A Trojan horse that attempts to download remote files. It will inject a .dll file into the EXPLORER.EXE process causing system instability.

Virus: W32(dot)Beagle(dot)CO(at)mm (sorry had to type out the dot and @ sign because the blogger software kept making a link of the virus name)

A mass-mailing worm that lowers security settings. It can delete security-related registry sub keys and may block access to security-related websites.

Virus: Backdoor.Zagaban
A Trojan horse that allows the compromised computer to be used as a covert proxy and which may degrade network performance.

Virus: W32/Netsky-P
A mass-mailing worm which spreads by emailing itself to addresses produced from files on the local drives.

Virus: W32/Mytob-GH
A mass-mailing worm and IRC backdoor Trojan for the Windows platform. Messages sent by this worm will have the subject chosen randomly from a list including titles such as: Notice of account limitation, Email Account Suspension, Security measures, Members Support, Important Notification.

Virus: W32/Mytob-EX
A mass-mailing worm and IRC backdoor Trojan similar in nature to W32-Mytob-GH. W32/Mytob-EX runs continuously in the background, providing a backdoor server which allows a remote intruder to gain access and control over the computer via IRC channels. This virus spreads by sending itself to email attachments harvested from your email addresses.

Virus: W32/Mytob-AS, Mytob-BE, Mytob-C, and Mytob-ER
This family of worm variations possesses similar characteristics in terms of what they can do. They are mass-mailing worms with backdoor functionality that can be controlled through the Internet Relay Chat (IRC) network. Additionally, they can spread through email and through various operating system vulnerabilities such as the LSASS (MS04-011).

Virus: Zafi-D
A mass mailing worm and a peer-to-peer worm which copies itself to the Windows system folder with the filename Norton Update.exe. It can then create a number of files in the Windows system folder with filenames consisting of 8 random characters and a DLL extension. W32/Zafi-D copies itself to folders with names containing share, upload, or music as ICQ 2005a new!.exe or winamp 5.7 new!.exe. W32/Zafi-D will also display a fake error message box with the caption "CRC: 04F6Bh" and the text "Error in packed file!". Virus: W32/Netsky-DA mass-mailing worm with IRC backdoor functionality which can also infect computers vulnerable to the LSASS (MS04-011) exploit.

Virus: W32/Zafi-B
A peer-to-peer (P2P) and email worm that will copy itself to the Windows system folder as a randomly named EXE file. This worm will test for the presence of an internet connection by attempting to connect to www.google.com or www.microsoft.com. A bilingual, worm with an attached Hungarian political text message box which translates to "We demand that the government accommodates the homeless, tightens up the penal code and VOTES FOR THE DEATH PENALTY to cut down the increasing crime. Jun. 2004, Pécs (SNAF Team)"

THESE ARE ALL VERY NASTY, but this is a very tiny list indeed. I thought I should post about what a few viruses DO TO YOUR COMPUTER so that if anyone has been having computer troubles and has NOT yet suspected a virus as the culprit, they can start to point their attention in the right direction to try to figure out if a virus is making their computer run slow, show error messages and display other virus-related problems.

Run your anti-virus software's scan mode often - and UPDATE your software often. Many anti-virus programs can help you detect and clean your computer - but no program will help you if you're not doing regular scans and updates.
